Julep Maven June 2013 Box!

So this month I received another Julep Maven box! To be completely honest I fully intended to skip another month but I guess I missed the window to choose your box or skip the month, and I got an email that one was on it's way to me! This month's box was called Sail Into Summer, and I received the Classic With a Twist box! The box included 2 nail polishes, their new DD Creme, as well as a few pieces of saltwater taffy!

The nail polishes included were Martha and Kennedy. Martha is a beautiful pale pink creme and Kennedy is a khaki creme. I am glad that both polishes that were included in my box were creme finishes, since that's my favourite! I really do love the pink polish, and the khaki is a great neutral for any nail polish collection as well as nail art (I'm thinking beach-themed?)!

The DD Creme interested me since I have never tried any BB/CC/DD Cremes out there. Unfortunately, they sent me the shade Medium and I am quite fair so there's no way I'll be able to wear it. I'll probably give it to my mom or my sister since they are both more tanned than I am.

However, I still did try the DD Creme on the back of my hand. It blended into my skin really nicely and had a dewy finish. It felt really smooth and moisturizing as well. I still don't plan on buying the Light shade though as it retails for $36.

Overall, this box could be better, but it could also certainly be worse. I'm sure I'll get lots of wear out of the pink nail polish and will try and use the khaki one as well! And hopefully I find someone that will enjoy the DD Creme! The contents of this box retail for $64 and as a Julep Maven it was sent to me for $19.99!

Nail of the Day: Red Lights Ahead...Where?

This week at Winners I got lucky and found an OPI set with 2 shades from the 2011 Holland collection as well as a free makeup bag! One of the shades that was included is Red Lights Ahead...Where?. This polish is a bright red polish that almost leans on the coral side. It is quite a bit less intense than the typical primary red, but is still very bright and beautiful. This is the perfect red nail polish for summer because it's not as deep as a lot of red polishes are, but you can still have a gorgeous red mani!

The formula of this polish was fantastic and was opaque after 2 coats. I love OPI's cream finish nail polishes and this one was no different to work with! I loved it!

June Wishlist

1. MAC Flamingo Lipstick // Since I finally have a job, I'm finally going to buy my first MAC lipstick this month! One I have my eye on is Flamingo from the upcoming All About Orange collection. While the collection is all about orange, this lipstick is much more pink/coral but it looks beautiful!

2. MAC Royal Sunset Blush // This is another product from the upcoming All About Orange collection at MAC. I've been dying to get a MAC blush for quite some time and this one looks so nice!

3. MAC Vanilla Pigment // This is a highly talked about MAC product that I'm sure you've all heard of. I really want to add this pigment to my collection! It has so many uses and looks so pretty.

4. Urban Decay Naked Basics // I love matte, neutral eyeshadows and have wanted this palette since it first came out. It looks like the perfect palette for everyday wear and I can combine the matte shades in this with shimmery shades from my Naked2 palette and other makeup!

5. Maxi Dresses // I've been on the hunt for the perfect maxi dress since last summer and I really want to get one this year! These are a few I liked from the Forever 21 website (1 | 2 | 3). Hopefully I find my perfect maxi dress this summer!

May Favourites

It's time for another monthly favourites post! Sorry I've been slacking on posts this week. I started my job at Target and worked 7 out of the past 8 days for 8.5 hours a day so I've been quite exhausted after work every day. But this week I only work 3 shifts so I should be posting more!

Beauty Secrets Acetone Nail Polish Remover // My first favourite is this acetone nail polish remover I got from Sally's. I had run out of the previous nail polish remover I was using so I went to Sally's to get this! It's a moisturizing formula so it doesn't dry out my cuticles too bad and it has a slightly fruity sweet scent!

Bath & Body Works Espresso Bar Candle // My favourite candle this month has been my Espresso Bar candle! It smells like you're in a coffee shop and is so delicious. I don't drink coffee but I love the smell of it!

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation // For summer time I wanted to try a new foundation with SPF in it! I would've continued using Revlon Nearly Naked because of how light it feels, but it doesn't have SPF! This foundation has SPF 20! It also has fantastic coverage and great lasting power. I really like this foundation so far! And I love that it has a pump!

NYX Blushes in Peach and Taupe // I got these blushes this month and I have literally used them every single day since I got them. Peach is such a pretty matte pink blush. I use a small duo-fibre brush to apply it so it doesn't go on too bright and can build up the colour to what I want! And Taupe is a fantastic contouring shade!

NYX Single Eyeshadow in True Taupe // I also got this eyeshadow this month and it has quickly become a staple in my eyeshadow routine. It works amazingly at blending out any deep crease colour and looks lovely smudged along the lower lashline for subtle definition!

Elf Cream Eyeliner & Angled Eyeliner Brush // I've begun using cream eyeliner this month since I got this one from Elf and it really is fantastic. The brush makes application really easy and I can make precise lines and sharp wings! I really, really love this eyeliner.

NYX Slide On Pencil in Azure // I love using this eyeliner to pop some colour along the lower lashline. Especially when I wear gold eyeshadow on my eyelids! It makes for such a pretty, summery look!

Marc by Marc Jacobs iPhone Case // I forgot to include this in the group photo above of everything, but I got this phone case this month and I am so, so in love with it. I don't think it's a real, authentic Marc Jacobs iPhone case, but I don't mind because I got it for only $5 on eBay! It feels like really nice quality and it's so cute!

That about wraps up my monthly favourites for May! What have some of your favourites been this month?

Colours of the Rainbow Tag!

Hi guys! I feel like I haven't posted anything in forever! Last Thursday I started work at my first official job, Target! I got hired at a store that isn't open yet so for the past few days we've been working on setting the store up like putting up shelves and hooks, etcetera. It's a lot of work but I'm enjoying it so far and have met some nice people :)!

But today I thought I would do a tag post! I've seen this tag going around on YouTube and on some blogs lately and it seemed like fun so I'm doing it today!

It's the Colours of the Rainbow Tag, where I share with you some favourite products that are each a different colour of the rainbow!

Red // For red I chose my L'Oreal Color Radiance Protecting Detangler. I use this after every time I shower and need to brush my hair. Without a detangler, my hair is so difficult to get a brush through but this stuff helps out so much. It also helps protect my coloured hair and it smells good!

Orange // For orange I chose my Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya. It's not totally bright orange, but is quite peachy. This is one of the new shades Revlon released for the spring and I absolutely love it. This lip butter has been my go-to everyday shade since I got it and has not left my purse. It's perfect! (Swatch/review post)

Yellow // This product isn't totally yellow, but the can is gold so I guess it counts. But for yellow I chose L'Oreal Elnett Satin hairspray. I'm not much of a hairspray user, but when I do need to use it, I use this stuff. I really love how fine the mist sprays out and it helps hold curls or a hairstyle without making your hair shiny or crunchy!

Green // I had to go with my CoverGirl Clump Crusher mascara for green! I absolutely love this mascara. It gives my lashes so much length and volume with absolutely no clumps. It is probably my favourite mascara I've used! (Review post)

Blue // For blue I decided to go with one of my all-time favourite nail polishes, which is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue. I feel like this is quite a well-known nail polish in the beauty community, and for good reason too! It's absolutely stunning. It's so bright and gorgeous on the nails! And you can get it for around $3.00!

Indigo // I don't own too many indigo products, but one I do use every single day is my Nivea Aqua Effect Moisturizing Night Care! I put this on every night after I wash my face and it's a really great moisturizer!

Violet // For violet I went with my Urban Decay Primer Potion! This is probably one of the most popular products among the beauty community, and was actually my first ever purchase from Sephora last year some time. I absolutely love this primer though! It works great and makes my eyeshadows last all day with absolutely no creasing!

Pink // For pink I had quite a hard time choosing a product. I have so many pink lipsticks, blushes and nail polishes I love but I could only choose one thing! So I decided to go with my NYX Round Lipstick in Fig. This is probably my favourite lipstick I own. It's a very smooth and creamy formula, and the colour looks great with any makeup look. It's a great everyday shade and is super pretty!

Multicoloured // This is a palette I haven't used in a while but I still decided to choose it for my multicoloured item. This is the Coastal Scents Creative Me #1 palette. I've had this palette for a few years now and is fantastic. I used to wear bright eyeshadows every day and I would use these ones a lot. They are all super pigmented, bright matte shadows. I sometimes miss doing bright makeup so maybe I'll get back into doing it more often! This really is a great palette!

So that wraps up my Colours of the Rainbow Tag post! I tag anyone and everyone who read this blog post to do it too! It was a lot of fun going through my beauty products and finding things of each colour!
