Nail of the Day: Nude + Neon

I recently bought a neon yellow nail polish and I've been wanting to use it without it looking too crazy. So I decided to go with a nude & neon manicure! I've seen this trend online a few times and really love the combination of a classic nude polish with a bright pop of neon.

For this manicure I used 2 coats OPI My Very First Knockwurst for the nude base, and then painted on neon french tips with 2-4 coats of China Glaze Celtic Sun. I used OPI Nail Envy as a base coat for this manicure and topped it off with Orly Glosser top coat.

I really love how this manicure turned out and I will definitely be trying some other nude & neon combination manicures this spring and summer!

Recipe: Best Taco Dip Ever!

There is a taco dip my mom has made for years and I made it today and I thought I'd share the recipe with you! It's a really simple recipe and it is so delicious! My entire family and all my friends love it. Here's how to make it.

First, we mix together cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning for the base layer of the taco dip. You can add more or less sour cream to make it thinner or thicker to your liking.

Pour the cream cheese mixture into a shallow dish (pie dishes work great!) and spread it out with a spatula. Use a larger dish (or 2 dishes) if you want this layer to be thinner, or use a smaller dish for a thicker layer!

Next, pour a layer of salsa on top of the cream cheese mixture and spread it out gently with a spatula. I prefer to use mild salsa, but if you prefer something with more of a kick, go ahead and use spicy!

Last, top all that off with a layer of shredded cheese! Use freshly grated or pre-shredded cheese, it's up to you! And add as little or as much cheese as you like (I prefer to go with lots of cheese!).

This recipe is totally customizable too. This is the very basic version of it. Sometimes my mom likes to add chopped peppers, bacon bits, tomatoes, green onions, and other things before the cheese is added! Just add what you like!

Now just take out a bag of Tostitos (the scoops work great!) and enjoy!

I thought today I would do a tag post! No one tagged me to do this but I've seen this tag quite a bit on youtube and it seemed like fun to do! If you're reading this then I tag YOU!

1. Favorite spring nail polish? 

I have a few nail polishes that I've been loving this spring! The first is China Glaze "Flip Flop Fantasy", a super bright, neon coral! I currently have it on my toes and it will probably be my most used pedicure polish this spring/summer! Next is OPI "You're Such A Budapest", a beautiful creamy periwinkle. I've wanted a periwinkle polish for a while and when this one came out with the Euro Centrale collection I knew I'd have to get it. This is such a pretty colour, I really love it! And last is OPI "I Eat Mainely Lobster" which is a medium coral-pink. This polish is more red/pink than most of my coral polishes, but that's why I think I like it so much! It looks really nice on my skin tone and the subtle shimmer in it is gorgeous.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?

My most worn lip product so far this spring has got to be my Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya. This thing has not left my purse since I bought it and it has been on my lips almost constantly. I feel like I'm neglecting all my other lip products but I just love this one so much! My favourite bright lip colour this spring has been my Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 06. It's such a beautiful bright pink lipstick!

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!

A lot of my wardrobe and what I wear consists of dresses so I had a hard time picking for this one, but I ended up choosing 2. The first is a floral dress I got a few months ago from Forever 21 and it's just beautiful. I love the colours in it and it fits me perfectly! And the other dress I chose is one I've had for about a year and a half, and it's this leopard print dress from TopShop. I have had this dress for a while but it is one that I still wear all the time because I love it so much!

4. What's your favorite flower?

I'm not really a flower person, but I know that one flower that always makes me think of spring is tulips! When the tulips start blooming I know spring has arrived!

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?

I haven't really been wearing any scarfs this spring (I do want to buy some though!), but I have been wearing my sunglasses quite often! I got these sunglasses from Dynamite last summer and they went missing for like 8 months but I just recently found them again and I was so happy!

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

I always get excited about being able to wear my dresses in the spring without having to layer them with tights and cardigans and sweaters all the time! I've also been really loving the bright lip trend this year! In the past I was never into lipstick as much but this summer I'm loving rocking a bright lip!

7. Favorite spring candle?

My favourite spring candle is Caribbean Escape from Bath & Body Works. I haven't had the chance to pick up any of their newer scents this year (there are a few I'm dying to get though!), but I've been loving this candle that I got on boxing day this year! It smells so fruity and sweet and delicious, and I love the bright pink colour of it!

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?

I don't own or wear many perfumes and I have no body sprays so for this question I'm gonna go with my Kate Spade Twirl perfume! I got this at Christmas this year and it's such a lovely scent!

9. What is spring like where you live?

I live near Toronto, and where I live it has been so nice lately. It seems like winter was never going to end, but for the past couple of weeks it's been sunny and over 20 degrees and so beautiful out!

10. What's your favorite thing about spring?

I love just being able to enjoy the weather! I do not like our Canadian winters and all of the snow and cold, so once it's nice out like it is now it makes me want to go out more and spend time enjoying the weather! I also love that I can ride my bike again and hang out with friends outside! And my pool gets opened again!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

Definitely not haha. I probably should be though.

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

I am going to quite a few concerts this summer (Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Darren Criss, Warped Tour, Fun., Fall Out Boy again, and others probably)! And my mom and I are hoping to drive down to New York (not NYC though unfortunately :'(.) and go shopping and just stay there for a day or two!

Nail of the Day: Black Tie Optional

I've been wanting to get my hands on Hard Candy's nail polish in Black Tie Optional since they released their nail polishes but have never had any luck in finding it in stores! Everytime I was at a Walmart I'd check the Hard Candy nail polish display but this polish was always out of stock. Luckily, I found it in stock yesterday! I've been wanting a black and white glitter/confetti top coat and I'm so happy with this one!

I layered 1 coat of Hard Candy Black Tie Optional over 3 coats of China Glaze Rich & Famous. I love the combination of these 2 but I also can't wait to try Black Tie Optional over some different colours!

Nail of the Day: Anchors Aweigh!

This is my second manicure I've done using one of my Hex Nail Jewelry charms. For this manicure I used the Anchor no. 1 charm! I went very nautical with the look of this manicure and I love how it turned out!

I had an interview with Target this week and actually got hired! This is my first part-time job (I've been looking for the past 2-3 years), so I'm thrilled to finally have a job!

I shot Olly Murs' show in Toronto this week! He was so great live!

May Wishlist

1. MAC Ripe For Love Blush - This is a new blush MAC is releasing with their upcoming Temperature Rising collection. It's a gorgeous peachy-orange blush. I don't have any blushes like this in my collection but I really love the look of this shade!

2. NYX Round Lipstick in Stella - Now that Target has made its way to Canada, more NYX products have become available to me! I saw this lipstick when I was in Target last week and it looks like such a pretty pinky-coral shade! And we all know how much I love my pinky-coral lipsticks.

3. Hard Candy Nail Polish in Black Tie Optional - This nail polish is a black and white "glitter" top coat. It's not sparkly like your typical glitter polish, it has black and white hexes and lines in it and would look so cute over so many different colours! Of all of the nail polishes Hard Candy has recently released, this one is the #1 one I want to try!

4. L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Strawberry Blonde - I saw a swatch of this shadow on xSparkage's blog yesterday and I am in love. It's a duochrome white/pink. This would look amazing as an inner corner highlight, or all over the lid. It'd also surely look incredible over a black base! I really want to try this shadow out!

5. Stay Home Club Patch - I want a back patch for my denim jacket so badly, and lately I've especially been eyeing this one from Stay Home Club. I love the illustration!

6. Denim Shirt - I really want a denim shirt for this summer! The one shown here is from Forever 21, but I'm not too picky where I buy it from. Hopefully I get one soon! I love that everything denim is in this spring/summer!
