About a week ago, my cousin Nicole called me up and asked if I wanted to help make her friend a cake for her bridal shower. So of course I said I would! She came over on Friday afternoon and we made a cake and matching cupcakes!
Both the cake and cupcakes were red velvet with french vanilla frosting, and the cake was covered and decorated with fondant! I've been making and decorating cakes for a couple of years now for fun, and I really enjoy it!
The bridal shower was this afternoon and my cousin texted me from it saying that everyone loved the cake and kept on complimenting it! I'm so happy the bride-to-be was pleased!
I can't believe I almost forgot to make a Friday Favourites post today! But it is still Friday for another 45 minutes, so here's what I'm loving this week...
I got inspiration for this manicure from this post on ModCloth's blog and I love how it turned out!
If you want to see a tutorial for these nails just let me know! I'm thinking of starting to make nail tutorial videos as well, so let me know if you'd be interested in seeing that!
Since I've been obsessed with chevron manicures lately, I thought I'd show you guys how I do mine! It's super easy to do and really cute. Just keep on reading to see how I do them!
Last night I baked the most delicious cupcakes! I found a recipe online for cinnamon roll cupcakes with coffee icing and I knew I had to give it a try. And they turned out delicious! The recipe was very easy to follow and my entire house smelled like Cinnabon. I will definitely be making these again.
Mine didn't turn out as nice looking as the ones on the blog where I found the recipe, but they definitely still taste amazing. Check out the recipe here!
Then today I went to Chapters with my mom and bought two books! I got The Land Of Stores: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer and The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I'm a huge fan of Chris Colfer (who is an actor on Glee) so I can't wait to read his book! And I have been wanting to read The Perks of Being A Wallflower for quite some time now, and now that a movie is coming out I want to read the book first! My mom wants to read it too so she'll be bringing it on vacation with her next week.
What are some of your favourite books you've read? I'm always looking for new books to get into!
Yesterday I attended the Vans Warped Tour in Toronto! It was my 5th year going, and my 4th year shooting it! I had a ton of fun and got to see pretty much all of the bands I wanted to! I'll share some photos I took on my phone in this post, and later on during the week I may post some of my pictures that I shot! Here's a bit of a preview of some of the photos I shot though! And continue reading to hear about my day!
I went shopping with my mom this afternoon and we got lucky! So many stores were having amazing sales! Between the two of us, we ended up getting 3 shirts, a dress, a pair of shorts, a belt, 2 pairs of tights, and 7 pairs of socks for only $62! Everything we got, aside from 1 shirt, was on sale for at least 50% off!
This is what I got out of all of that! I picked up this oversized neon coral and grey striped tee from H&M for $12.95 (this was the one thing we got that wasn't on sale).
I also got two pairs of teal tights from Smart Set. They were regular $12.00 each, but they were marked down to $0.99 each, and today all the sale items there were an additional 25% off! So I got 2 pairs of tights for around $1.50! I plan on doing a DIY with one pair of them, maybe tie dye tights or something! And I also got 2 pairs of low-cut socks to wear with my TOMS shoes. They were 2 for $7.

This blog! I just recently came across it and I love it! They post a ton of DIY projects, as well as recipes, photography tips, and beauty & fashion posts!
Cara Salimando's June EP. Cara has been releasing a 2-song EP every month this year! You can download this one for free here, and check the rest of her music out on iTunes!
This video is so accurate. You know you do this too!
I've been wanting to buy a nail polish rack for quite some time now, but didn't really want to pay $30-$40 for one. After seeing a couple of tutorials online, I decided I'd make my own! If you want to learn how I made mine, just keep on reading! I ended up making mine for only $6 since the only thing I had to buy was foam boards. The rest of the materials I had at home!
I tried out my new nail polish today and I absolutely love it! It's Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet. It's a beautiful, creamy mint green. It took 2 coats to go fully opaque. This summer I've really been loving pastels, so I'm sure this polish will get a ton of use for the rest of the season!
I went shopping a couple of times this week and I thought I'd share the things I bought!
On Friday I went out with my mom for a bit to find her a summer dress, and I ended up getting this cute off-white lace dress! It was only $20 and I got it from Bluenotes. They had it in a few other colours as well, but I've been really wanting a white or cream lace dress this summer so I'm really happy I got this!
Then today I went shopping again with my friend Courtney, and picked up this nail polish! It's a Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish in the colour "Mint Sorbet". I absolutely love it and can't wait to wear it! This is also one of my favourite, and one of the least expensive, drugstore nail polish brands because they wear for 4-5 days without a top coat with no chipping!
Also, follow me on instagram if you have one! It's one of my favourite apps and I often post pictures of outfits I wear and things I buy. Among other various things.
I really love painting my nails. Like a lot. I probably paint my nails 2-3 times a week. And I thought I'd share some of my manicures with you!
As you might've seen in my Friday Favourites post, I have recently become obsessed with chevron nails. So the other day I decided I'd give it a try!
It's actually a super easy manicure to do and I love how it turned out! If anyone would like to see how I did this, let me know and next time I do a chevron mani I'll take pictures as I do it to show you!
The nail polishes I used to create this look are Barielle's "Blossom" and Revlon Colorstay Longwear nail polish in "Fall Mood".
I want to start making posts every Friday of all the things I'm loving each week! They could be photos, music, movies, videos, food, clothing, or anything else really! I got the idea from one of my favourite bloggers, Kaelah, who makes weekly "Things I Love Thursday" posts! So here are some things I've been loving this week...
Chevron manicures!
These shorts. I'd love to make a DIY pair of these!
This picture of a chinchilla eating a Dorito. It's so cute! :3
My eos lip balm! I had been wanting to get one of these for so long and I finally got one this week!
Brighter Brightest's new music video for their song "Right For Me". I actually went to this video shoot back in January but you can't see me in the video. It turned out amazing though!
This album! I just recently started listening to Tonight Alive and they are fantastic! I've been listening to this album basically on repeat for the past week or so. They're a female-fronted band from Australia. They're also on the Vans Warped Tour this year so I'm stoked to see them there! The band also has a great cover of Little Lion Man which is worth checking out!
This Pussycat Dolls workout routine. Yes, I know that you're thinking it's probably ridiculous, and some of the moves are, but it's a fun way of exercising and the full hour long video is on youtube! I really should exercise more than I do, so I like how I can do this at home. I did this routine earlier this week and it was such a good workout! I'm definitely going to continue doing this a couple times a week.
This. It bothers me so much whenever people say "I seen..."
I guess that wraps up this week's favourites. What are some of your favourite things this week?
